U12 –
AGES
10 & 11

ELIGIBILITY

Athletes must be 10 or 11 years of age as of December 31st of the current season to be eligible for the U12 racing program. Racers must be able to load, unload and ride the chair lifts independently and be able to parallel ski on green and blue runs (equivalent skill level to Adventure Bronze in the Ski School).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The U12 program continues the emphasis on fun, team building, and skill development initiated in the U10 program. Aimed at providing 10 and 11 year old athletes the FUNdamentals of skiing and ski racing, we expand upon the development themes introduced at younger ages. The focus is on the development of ski racing skills while continuing to promote the development of overall skiing skills.

Our program incorporates the Alpine Canada ACA Snow Stars program, focusing on skill levels 3, 4 and 5.

We are in the process of looking into Dryland Pre-Season Training. If we are able to offer Dryland pre-season training , it will be set up as a registration with its own cost.

On-snow activities start with a 4-day Christmas camp from December 27th to 30th, 2023 where skiers get reacquainted with snow training, working both on and off the course. Christmas camp runs from 9am to 3pm, with a one-hour unsupervised lunch break. Please note that camp dates and hours may be reduced should weather and snow conditions create an unsafe environment or limit terrain availability. Parents and guardians are required to be on-site during training.

ADDITIONAL AWAY RACES

U12 racers may be able to opt in and participate in some additional away races, approved by Brimacombe Racing. Please note there is an additional fee per additional race and that eligibility is dependent on weather conditions and the hosting club’s race quota criteria. You will be notified when registration for additional races is open. Parents or guardians must be on-site at away races.

FULL DAY

Our regular season is a 9-week full-day program, Saturday & Sunday 9am to 3pm with a one-hour unsupervised lunch. There are no prerequisites. Racers will train as a team at our home hill, and will race at home and at neighbouring ski clubs in 4 fun-focussed race days. These races will include a combination of Slalom, GS, and Kombi. The program includes Christmas camp and an end of year banquet.

See Registration tab for fee details.
