Hello Brim Racing Families,
I have some bad news to report, I am afraid… The Board has met tonight and decided to cancel the 2020-21 season.
I want you all to know we have not taken this decision lightly. We have worked hard to try to get the program up and running this year – mostly with the kids in mind. We really do not want to let them down! However, the environment has changed for the worse since the end of the summer and it is hard to see any change as we head toward ski season.
With Durham Region in the “Control — Red Zone” and Toronto in a lockdown, we are in a situation where our program will not meet the requirements set out by the Government of Ontario.
- We have taken this decision now for a few reasons:
We need to give our coaches the ability to find other employment if possible — we can’t leave them hanging until the 27th of December; - We want to ensure that all of you who have registered are eligible for a full refund from AOA. We can only secure this if our program has not officially started;
- We want to get the word out so that those of you considering purchasing equipment for the season have time to consider whether you need it or not!
I want to specifically thank Norm Greer, our Head Coach for all his hard work designing a program for this year. He has put in a tonne of hours since the summer working on the program and meeting with AOA.
I also want to thank Mark Rutherford, who has worked very closely with us to try to fit our program into his limited operating capacity for this coming year. Please let’s all try to continue to support Brimacombe and the Slopeside store — we may not be racing this year, but we can certainly be out there skiing and having fun!
We will be refunding your Brim Racing fees over the next week or so and we have made arrangements with AOA to refund your fees there, so there is nothing you need to do.
At the end of the day, the safety of your kids and families is the most important thing. There will be another racing season next year for all of us to look forward to. Please stay safe and be well everyone.
